Edison continues to enjoy his new environment, including his daily mini-ration of peanut butter, which appears to be his absolute favorite food.
Leo and I are now vexed by Edison's family, which we now have evidence of...as the traps we laid for them with peanut butter as bait have been sprung several times, peanut butter completely consumed.
This morning, we discovered a clue that the mice may have escaped with a little...feline help. This morning, we noticed that this morning, the Mice Cube we'd used was on its side. Either Edison's family is really fast and really strong (and arrogant to boot, as they were in the Mice Cube so long, they left a few little "gifts" behind), or Kate, our 19 year-old cat who roams the house at night, is helping the mice escape by playing with the traps. Tonight, we're putting Kate in the bathroom and we'll see if we catch some friends for Edison.
I have to confess, I'm becoming a little apprehensive at this point. It's one thing if we have just one small family of mice. I don't mind keeping two or three. But we can't keep an unlimited number of these little guys, no matter how cute they are. And if they start having crazy numbers of babies....well, I guess we'll catch what we catch and cross that bridge when we come to it....I guess.
